Gritty and Unglamourous

Fresh out of the Kelly School of Business, my first job was at Cintas—and it was a baptism by fire. Selling floor mats and shop towels to local businesses was gritty and unglamorous work, but it taught me the fundamentals of sales. The rigorous training at Cintas, a Fortune 500 company, allowed me to master the principles of response-based selling, preparation, attention to detail, and negotiation. I quickly learned that sales were about building relationships and providing solutions to make businesses run smoother, laying the groundwork for my entrepreneurial journey and my definition of success in business—which is to understand and meet the needs of your clients.
